thirdweb is a developer platform. In-app wallets are one product on it. The default inAppWallet() call, per current docs, supports email, Google, Apple, Facebook, and passkey. Phone, more social providers, guest sessions, and external wallets are configuration.
The prebuilt Connect Button and Connect Embed are the surfaces most users will see. A team can also skip that UI and run the same auth from hooks. Wallets are scoped to a client ID. Marketing pages describe enclave-backed recovery and one-line account abstraction for gasless transactions.
Price is two layers: a platform plan, and a per-MAU wallet fee after the first 1,000 monthly active users. Comparing thirdweb to a pure wallet vendor on the MAU line alone understates the bill.
Who it is for
Teams that will ship contracts, sponsored gas, or payments from the same vendor they use for login.
Sign-in, as documented
- Email verification code
- Phone number
- Passkey
- Social providers, including Google, Apple, Facebook, Discord, and others
- Guest or no-sign-in wallet creation, as advertised
- External wallets through the Connect UI
- Custom JWT or OIDC auth
Wallet model
In-app wallets scoped to your client ID. thirdweb describes them as self-custodial, with recovery via enclaves. Account abstraction (EIP-4337 and 7702) is a separate but adjacent product used for gas sponsorship.
Expected flow
Dated frames are screenshots of the vendor’s default UI from the lab capture on Oct 20, 2026. Empty frames are still pending. The sequence itself is still a reading of the public docs.
01Connect Button or Connect Embed
thirdweb lab entry. The host control opens the vendor’s default UI.
02Auth method list
thirdweb default UI on the email method. No code has been sent.
03Verification
thirdweb one-time code screen. The code was not submitted.
No screenshot
04In-app wallet
Docs say the wallet is created from the verified identity and does not ask the user to confirm a transaction just to exist.
thirdweb sends a real email code. There is no documented sandbox OTP, so this run stops at the code screen and does not read an inbox. This client allows localhost:3000. Add www.kycflows.com and kycflows.com to its allowed domains.
No screenshot
05Optional funding or gasless prompt
Buy, bridge, and account-abstraction prompts are separate widgets. They are not part of the login unless the app adds them.
Metrics
Documented rows cite a public page. Pending rows wait for the first capture. A blank is not a zero.
Screens in this draft
5 expected screens
The fifth screen is optional and only appears if the app mounts a funding or gasless widget.
Default auth, as documented
Email, Google, Apple, Facebook, passkey
The no-options inAppWallet() example. Apps usually narrow this.

Pricing snapshot
Platform plans and wallet MAU fees are both published. The first 1,000 wallet MAUs are free. Rates step down as volume grows. As of Oct 19, 2026, from thirdweb.com/pricing.
| Plan | Price | What the page says |
|---|---|---|
| Growth | $99 / month | In-app wallet auth, web and mobile SDKs, server wallets, and account abstraction. |
| Scale | $499 / month | Adds support response targets and the option to remove thirdweb branding. |
| Pro | $1,499+ / month | Custom infrastructure and negotiated volume discounts. |
| Wallets · 1–100,000 MAU | $0.015 / MAU after 1,000 free | The first band of the September 2025 wallet pricing change. |
| Wallets · higher bands | $0.01, then $0.0075, then $0.005 | 100,001–1M at $0.01, 1M–10M at $0.0075, and above 10M at $0.005 per MAU. |
- SMS is billed apart from MAU. The pricing page has a delivery row; copy the current cell before you rely on it.
- A September 18, 2025 thirdweb post describes the MAU bands as already applied. Confirm the live table when you buy.

- The playground is a public demo of components, not a capture for this site. Linking it is not the same as counting its fields.
- Guest wallets and gasless mode change the flow. They will be separate captures, not footnotes on the email path.
Change history
Wallet-first notes open, with empty frames
Five wallet vendors and Didit are on the shelf, with six comparisons. Every screenshot frame says capture pending. Measured rows — steps, fields, time — are blank on purpose. Nothing here was timed.
thirdweb publishes lower per-user wallet prices
A thirdweb post described tiered monthly-active-user rates starting at $0.015 after 1,000 free wallets. The public pricing page still showed that shape when this site was seeded. Platform fees are separate.
