Privy vs Dynamic

Two embedded-wallet stacks with a wide login surface. What we can defend today is context and pricing shape, not which modal is faster.

The flows

Privy logoPrivy

  1. 01Entry in the host app

Privy lab entry. The host control opens the vendor’s default UI.

  2. 02Method picker

Privy default UI on the email method. No code has been sent.

  3. 03Credential

Privy one-time code screen. The code was not submitted.

  4. No screenshot

04MFA, if the app requires it

Privy recommends a passkey or authenticator app when the primary login is delegated to email, SMS, or a social provider. Not every app turns this on.

Privy test accounts and their one-time codes live in the dashboard under User management → Authentication → Advanced. This run does not read a real inbox. Set PRIVY_TEST_EMAIL and PRIVY_TEST_OTP locally, without committing them, to capture the steps after the code.

  5. No screenshot

    05Embedded wallet

Docs say a wallet can be created automatically, on demand, or before first login. We have not timed which of those a default setup does.

  6. No screenshot

    06Ready state

The user should land back in the host app with an address. Key export is documented as a later action, not necessarily this screen.

Dynamic logoDynamic

  1. 01Connect entry

Dynamic lab entry. The host control opens the vendor’s default UI.

  2. 02Method picker

Dynamic default UI on the email method. No code has been sent.

  3. 03Credential check

Dynamic one-time code screen. The code was not submitted.

  4. No screenshot

    04Information capture

If the app requires an email, alias, or username, Dynamic says the user is prompted before the session is complete. Many apps skip this.

Dynamic sandbox logins use an email with +dynamic_test before the @. The code screen is captured. The static code was not printed in the widget, and DYNAMIC_TEST_OTP was unset, so the steps after the code stay pending. No real inbox was read.

  5. No screenshot

    05Embedded wallet creation

Docs are explicit that wallet creation follows authentication. A passkey prompt may appear here when passkeys protect the key.

  6. No screenshot

    06MFA or access gate

MFA and allowlists can stop the session after the first credential. This screen is conditional.

Privy and Dynamic both document email, phone, social, passkey, and external-wallet login, then an embedded wallet with no seed phrase. Privy’s docs describe one user object across those methods, keys reconstituted in a trusted execution environment, and a path to export. Dynamic’s docs say authentication finishes first and the MPC wallet is created after. The user can be logged in before an address exists.

The companies around them are part of the public story. Privy announced on June 11, 2025 that Stripe was acquiring it, and said the product would stay independent. Dynamic’s docs and Fireblocks’ docs describe Dynamic as a Fireblocks company. That matters if you already buy payments or custody infrastructure. It does not tell you which screen is calmer.

Dynamic’s public price list currently disagrees with itself. One FAQ says $249 a month through 5,000 monthly active users, then $0.005. Another view lists a free Launch plan and a $0.05 overage. Privy’s bands are cleaner to read and steeper at the first paid step: free through 499 users, then $299. Neither number is a UX result.

Do not treat Dynamic’s $0.005 and $0.05 overages as a range. They are conflicting public claims. Privy’s MAU definition is a user with a session in 30 days. Dynamic counts a login, or the creation of an embedded or pregenerated wallet.
